International tourism tax (Bali)

Since February 14, 2024, Bali is introducing, as part of more sustainable tourism, an international tourist tax (Levy) to preserve the heritage, culture, and natural places of the island. It is strongly recommended to pay this in advance to avoid long queues, via the website lovebali.baliprov

PRICE : 150,000 IDR (around €10 - £7.5)

Visas

For 30 days

It is mandatory to have a residence visa to enter Indonesian territory. There are different ones, but the most common is the touristic visa, also called "Visa On Arrival", valid for a period of 30 days. It is possible to request it in advance online, or upon arrival at the airport. Please note, be sure to respect your visa validity, any overstay will cost you IDR 1,000,000 per day.

PRICE : 500,000 IDR - approximately €35

Beforehand

It is possible to request it online within the 3 months preceding your arrival, via the immigration website: molina.imigrasi.go.id/. However, we recommend applying for your visa at the airport.

On arrival

As soon as you get off the plane, you will be directed to the tourist visa office, where you can pay directly at the counter. It is possible to pay in euros: cash (notes only) and bank card. It is likely that you will be charged an additional 3% if paying by credit card.

Beyond

There is the possibility to renew this visa for an additional 30 days, for which you will have to go through the immigration office. For those who have previously applied for their visa online, it is possible to apply for an extension online. A single visit, in order to record your fingerprints, will then be necessary. For those who have completed the procedures upon arrival, in this case we strongly recommend going through a local agency specializing in this type of procedure. Even if this service requires additional financial effort, it is well worth it, and will save you numerous trips to immigration. These are also the agencies you should contact if you want a longer-term visa.

Passeport

Travelers must have a passport with a least of 6 months validity remaining on the date of entry into Indonesia, as well as a sufficient number of blank pages to affix entry and exit stamps from the territory. Please also to have a passport in good condition. Indeed, many travelers are refused entry to Indonesian soil due to torn pages or damaged covers. Travelers who do not comply with these conditions will not be admitted to Indonesia and will be returned directly to France.

Customs

To enter the territory, you will also be asked for a customs declaration. For information, you can bring up to 1 liter of alcohol and 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 100 g of tobacco. It is of course prohibited to import narcotics, weapons, ammunition, but also pornographic objects or publications . Chinese medicines and more generally, anything printed in Chinese characters is also prohibited! You can complete the customs declaration form online, just before your departure via the website ecd.beacukai.go.id or upon your arrival at the airport.

Health

Vaccins

In Bali, there is no compulsory vaccination to enter the country. However, some are strongly recommended such as Diphtheria, Tetanus Poliomyelitis up to date. Bali is not a risky island, you just need to bring a good mosquito repellent ! There is almost no presence of malaria, it is in the islands further north of Indonesia that the risk is present. You should also always be careful of stray dogs in Bali and monkeys in relation to rabies. If you ever get bited, go to the nearest hospital to get your rabies vaccine booster. In Indonesia, care is of good quality. In Canggu, in the south of Bali, I give you the address of a quality hospital with reception 7/7 and 24/24. Siloam hospitals are very well known here and provide a service equivalent to France and its presence throughout the island.

Covid-19

Regarding entry conditions linked to Covid-19, Indonesia no longer requires vaccines or PCR tests.
